If you are new to astronomy or need some help selecting a product that suits your needs you might wish to look at our "Getting Started" page. This section provides basic information about binoculars and telescopes, making it easier to choose the right gear for your purpose.
Navigation
If you are a regular customer you might want to dive in using the easy category navigation menu at the top of the home page.
We have added a number of new subcategories with the idea of making navigation simpler and more enjoyable.
Within each category you can now also filter results by brand or price.
Making a Purchase
Once you have found what you are looking for, the product can be added to your shopping cart.
When you proceed to the checkout we have a new feature allowing you to register as a customer. This will allow you to login next time you make a purchase without the need for filling out your details each time you shop with us.
It will also allow you to receive promotions and/or discounts that will run from time to time.
If you prefer not to register - no problem just checkout as a guest.
If an item is in stock we will process the order and dispatch it as soon as possible. Usually the same day if the order is received before lunchtime.
What if a product is out of stock or is a special order item.
Even though we carry an extensive range of products and have many items in stock there are times when an item is backordered or is a specail order item.
In the instance that a product is on backorder we will advise you. Nothing will be charged to your credit card until the item arrives and is ready to ship.
If an item is a special order, again we will advise you after your order is placed. It is common that you will be charged a deposit. The deposit required varies depending on the item ordered. We will advise you accordingly.
Delivery
Once your order is received, our internet sales team will compile and process your order. Our delivery charges can be seen by clicking the little delivery van icon in the product page.
Essentially small orders under $200 value will be sent via Express Post. The cost is $10 for goods under 500g or $15 for goods up to 3kg.
Goods over $200 (up to 20kg) will be carefully packed and sent by registered post. Bulky items such as telescopes will be sent by TNT Road Express. In this instance we will calculate the cost of freight and it will be added to the order.

The Night Sky newsletter is written by founder and owner of the Binocular & Telescope Shop, Mike Smith.
We have provided a subscription link allowing you to receive the Night Sky in pdf format each month free of charge
The Night Sky reports the latest findings from space and important events of interest to the Amateur Astronomical community. It includes an easy-to-read star map and regular columns outlining observing highlights for the month. Information about new and exciting products or upcoming events are discussed.
You'll even find an occassional snippet of gossip and unflinchingly sardonic political commentary!
