The world standard in telescope
oculars, Meade Series 4000 eyepieces yield the widest possible fields of
view, consistent with pinpoint edge-of-field sharpness and long eye relief—and
yet with extremely low astigmatism, spherical aberration, and off-axis
color. Incorporating 7-layer multi-coatings and edge-blackened optics for
optimum image contrast, these sophisticated 4 to 8-element designs permit
levels of optical performance generally impossible to achieve with eyepieces
of fewer elements.
Serious telescope users generally
own about 4 to 6 eyepieces, for higher and lower magnifications, and for
wide-angle observing as well.
Advanced observers will
appreciate Meade Series 4000 eyepieces, the finest oculars obtainable that
will yield excellent image resolution at all powers on any telescope. They
are available in 18 focal lengths to suit any observing requirement.
All Series 4000 eyepieces include a soft rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The eyeguards fold down for eyeglass wearers, and in fact the folded eyeguard shields eyeglasses from coming into contact with the metal eyepiece housings. Rubber grips are provided on all but the three shortest focal length Super Plössl eyepieces.
Series 4000 Super Plossl : Designed to utilize the very latest in optical glass types, Meade 4-element Super Plössls are excellent general-purpose eyepieces. For observing hairline lunar and planetary detail, splitting close double stars, or for resolving faint nebulosity in deep-space, Meade Super Plössls optimize the performance of any telescope type, whether f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain, f/16 refractor, or f/4 reflector. They also operate well in conjunction with the air-spaced design of the Meade #140 2x Apochromatic Barlow. All focal lengths through 32mm are parfocal. The Super Plössl 56mm eyepiece with 2" O.D. barrel yields 36X and an actual field of view of 1.4° on an 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.
6.4mm This eyepiece
is the highest power available in the Meade Super Plossl range. With 52°
apparent field of view, it offers 2mm of eye-relief making it not
suitable for eyeglass wearers, includes a soft rubber eyeguard, custom
fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The barrel is threaded to
suit filters.

9.7mm
This eyepiece is the second highest power available in the Meade Super
Plossl range. With 52° apparent field of view, it offers only 4mm of
eye-relief making it not suitable for eyeglass wearers, it will give very
good high power Planetary and Lunar images, includes a soft rubber eyeguard,
custom fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The barrel is threaded

12.4mm This eyepiece
is ideal for Lunar and Planetary viewing, gives nice images of galaxies
and globular clusters. With 52° apparent field of view, it offers
7mm of eye-relief making it not suitable for eyeglass wearers, includes
a soft rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount.
The barrel is threaded to suit filters.

15mm This eyepiece
is one of the most popular with SCT owners. It is great for doing 2 star
alignment and will render very good images of galaxies and clusters and
some of the smaller nebulae. With 52° apparent field of view, it offers
9mm of eye-relief making it not suitable for eyeglass wearers, but very
comfortable for those who don't wear spectacles, includes a soft
rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The
barrel is threaded to suit filters and rubber grips are provided.

20mm This is a very
nice eyepiece for open and globular clusters and nebulae. It works very
well with the Meade #140 Barlow to give higher power and retain the
13mm of eye-relief. This would be the minimum sized eyepiece for eyeglass
wearers although you may still vignette trying to see the full field of
view. With 52° apparent field of view, includes a soft rubber
eyeguard, custom fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The barrel
has rubber grips and it is threaded to suit filters.

26mm This is the
eyepiece that comes as a standard with Meades ETX and LX telescopes. It
works very well with the Meade #140 Barlow to give higher power and
retain the 10mm of eye-relief, although eyeglass wearers will vignette
trying to see the full field of view. With 52° apparent field of view,
includes a soft rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to each eyepiece with a
bayonet mount. The barrel has rubber grips and it is threaded to suit filters.

This eyepiece with it's 52° apparent field of view offers the
truest wide field of view in a 1.25" eyepiece. Great for bigger open clusters
and nebulae. It works very well with the Meade #140 Barlow
to give higher power and retain the 13mm of eye-relief. This would be just
OK for eyeglass wearers although you may still vignette trying to see the
full field of view. Includes a soft rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to each
eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The barrel has rubber grips and it is threaded

40mm This eyepiece
is the lowest power in the Meade Super Plossl range in a 1.25" barrel size.
It has a 44° apparent field of view, making it ideal for big
distended objects. It works very well with the Meade #140 Barlow
to give higher power and retain the 17mm of eye-relief. Eyeglass
wearers will have no problem using this eyepiece and will fit the full
field of view without vignetting. The barrel has rubber grips and it is
threaded to suit filters.
