ASSW is an astronomy society founded in 1986 who meet regularly and provide educational services to the public in South Western Australia.
The Astronomical Society of the South West Inc (ASSW) was first formed by a group of local school children in 1983 wanting to look up at the night sky and see the approaching Comet Haley in detail. In 1992 they were able to build the observatory in College Grove, Bunbury that now seats the original telescope.
ASSW spends a lot of time doing Astronomy outreach in the area through visiting or hosting school and community groups across the South West. They host open public nights throughout the year during school holidays as well as a beginners course for those wanting to start learning about Astronomy. Private bookings on request.
