Bintel are proud to help supply and support the equipment for Eltham College Observatory!
The fully remote Observatory was built by Brett Soames of Bathurst and currently houses the following instruments;
- Software Bisque Paramount ME11
- Planewave 17″ CDK
- Software Bisque MX+
- Celestron 11″ RASA
The Original Observatory was badly damaged in storms in 2011 and whilst attempts to repair it were undertaken it was not successful. There are also plans to include another scope for Planetary imaging later in the year.
Two students in 2017 along with the help of head of Science Darren Smith and college Principal Simon Le Plastrier started the dream of rebuilding and the culmination of that was the official opening last Friday night by Dr. Megan Clark , Head of Australia Space Agency.
300 Plus guest were invited to the opening along with members of the Astronomical Society of Victoria who had telescopes on site for the guest to look through.
The Observatory was opened with fanfare and music by the college band! Bintel was proud to be associated with the College and the supplier of instruments and support.
