Farpoint Flexible Dew Shields for Cassegrain Telescopes
Farpoint Flexible Dew Shields wrap around the front of your telescope thereby reducing the formation of dew and prolonging your observing sessions. There comes a night when every SCT or Maksutov telescope owner finds out what a nuisance dew can be. When it forms on the front corrector plate or lens, it’s usually time to call it a night.
Made from durable, flexible ABS plastic they won’t chip or break like hard dew caps. They wrap snugly around your telescope tube and fastens with Velcro. Store them flat or rolled up when not on your telescope.
The inside is lined with black felt making a matt, non-reflective surface. The felt also prevents dew running down the inside surface of the dew shield and onto your corrector plate. Most sizes have a notch cut-out so they still fit on telescopes with a narrow dovetail plate. The ABS plastic can be cut easily with a craft knife should you need to make additional modifications in the case of wide dovetail plates.
In addition to dew prevention it also help block annoying stray light and makes an excellent lens shade when using your telescope in daylight.
