DDR Memory Buffer
ASI1600 Pro camera includes a 256MB DDR3 memory buffer to help improve data transfer reliability. Additionally, the use of a memory buffer minimizes amp-glow, which is caused by the slow transfer speeds when the camera is used with a USB 2.0 port.
ZWO’s ASI1600 Pro offers very good performance for astrophotography – low read noise, low dark current, high dynamic range.
The ASI1600MM Pro uses a 12bit ADC but can provide 12.5 stops dynamic range thanks to its extremely low read noise (even better than the popular KAF8300).
Reliable Mechanical Structures
Refinements to the new ASI1600MM Pro ensure a properly sealed CMOS sensor chamber. This design has been fully tested and is very stable.
Even under high humidity evironments, the ASI1600MM Pro still works fine and won’t have dew problems.
USB 3.0 Port & USB2.0 HUB
USB 3.0 Port: Provides 5Gb bandwidth making it possible for the ASI1600MM Pro to run at 14.7 fps (12bit, normal mode) or 23fps (10bit, high speed mode) at full 16MP resolution (4656×3520). Much faster frame rates can be achieved using region of interest (ROI).
A 12V at 3A~5A or more DC adapter is necessary for cooler power supply (2.1*5.5, center positive). SLA or other battery from 9-15V is also suitable for a cooling power supply.

USB 2.0 HUB: Power various accessories, such as filter wheel, guide camera and electronic focuser from the in-built USB2.0 hub. Cable management is easy using the 2 short 0.5m USB2.0 cables supplied with the ASI1600MM Pro. Power is applied to the hub from your external power supply if you connect it.
8 x 1.25″ Filter Wheel
The newest addition to ZWO’s filter wheels for imaging is the ZWO EFW Filter Wheel 8×1.25″ motorized model.
The body is CNC machined from a full block of aircraft grade aluminium. The profile is very thin at only 20mm deep. It accepts 8 standard 1.25″ filters.
Japanese NPM stepper motors are at the heart of the EFW filter wheels so you can trust the the quality and reliability!
Smart electronics allow the filter wheel to rotate in both directions making filter changing fast and precise.
Only one USB cable is enough to power up the EFW with maximum power consumption of only around 150ma@5V
Even better you can power it from the USB2.0 hub of ZWO’s latest cooled cameras.
The filter to sensor distance is around 10mm when connected to the ASI1600 with the benefit that the 1.25″ filter won’t have vignetting down to F2.
ZWO’s newest L-RGB filters are recommended for the ASI1600. They result in nearly 1:1:1 RGB colour balance compared to the older ZWO L-RGB filterset.

ZWO Narrowband Filter Set 7nm
The Narrowband filters do not eliminate the effects of light pollution or increase the object’s brightness. In many cases, they increase the contrast between nebula and night sky, not brightening the nebula.
They can reduce the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light including mercury vapour, and both high and low pressure sodium vapour lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere (i.e. skyglow).
The ZWO H-Alpha filter has a bandpass of 7nm and passes light at 656nm wavelength, light transmission rate comes up to 80%. Best choice of narrowband H-alpha astrophotography filter for high-contrast imaging and revealing rich details of the nebula even in areas with strong light pollution, just prepare to experience the infinite fun with it !
The ZWO narrowband S-II 7nm filter passes light at 672nm wavelength with a bandpass of 7nm which is designed for nebula observation . It is suitable for visual observation on most emission nebulae, planetary nebulae and supernova remnants, use it with H-alpha and OIII narrowband filters (SHO Set) for tricolor CCD astrophotography.
The ZWO narrowband O-III 7nm filter is designed for nebula observation allowing 7nm bandwidth of light centered on a wavelength of 500nm through, which corresponds to OIII emission lines, blocking out all other light. Adding the ZWO O-III Narrowband filter to your imaging collection will help you go beyond the RGB imaging and will help capture your favorite nebulas in a totally new light, no matter how polluted your skies may be!
