We accept payment by Visa, Mastercard & AMEX, Personal Cheque (subject to clearance), Bank Cheque, Direct Deposit and Australian Money Order.

We carry many products in stock. When an order is placed for an in stock item it will be processed and shipped as soon as possible – often the same day the order is received. Other items may be out of stock on backorder, and we will endeavor to supply such orders to our customers as soon as available. Delays are still possible of course, particularly on special orders of large telescopes or customised items. Please note that order cancellation fees or return re-stocking fees may apply to special items at our discretion.

All prices shown include Australian GST when accessing the website from Australia. Customers viewing the website from overseas (or when using a VPN which hides you IP address) will be shown ex-GST prices. Goods for export are not subject to Australian GST, however the buyer is responsible for any duties and charges applicable when the goods arrive at their destination.

Although we make efforts to keep pricing up-to-date, prices are subject to vary without notice due to changes in wholesale pricing and/or currency fluctuations. In the event that a price change is relevant to an item which has already been ordered online, we will first contact you to confirm payment of the difference, or subsequently cancel the order with a full refund should this additional cost be prohibitive.

Whilst we make every effort to keep product information and images up-to-date, design revisions and variations may occur from time to time that are not reflected on the website. Please understand that some minor variations may occur that do not change the functionality of the product. Bintel will not be held responsible for supplying items which do not directly match the website descriptions or photos, provided the items still function as intended.

By completing and submitting the electronic order form (or proceeding through the ‘checkout process’) you are making an offer to purchase goods which, if accepted by us, will result in a binding contract. Neither submitting an electronic order form or completing the checkout process constitutes our acceptance of your order. We also accept laybys. Our terms for laybys is 20% deposit and finalised within 65 days. During that period we require regular payments to be made. Please contact our staff in-store to make layby arrangements.

Returns Policy:
I. Please choose products carefully as we do not accept returns for change of mind.
II. For “Wrong Size” items we can exchange the item to the correct size you need, the item must be returned in brand new condition with all original packaging. A 20% restocking fee can apply.
III. For “Faulty” items we can replace the item for a like item when available, if like item is not available, we can refund your full amount (including any discounts) to your original form of payment.
IV. For “Cancelled” orders we will refund the total amount paid (including any discounts) to your original form of payment.
V. For items that arrive damaged in transit
i. If possible: please refuse delivery of the item.
ii. If the damage is found after the delivery has been accepted a return request must be made within 3 days upon receipt of the damaged item. Please include any photo evidence of how the package was received with your request and keep ahold of the damaged packaging/item for reference.
VI. If you are unsure your case matches any of these reasons for return, please reach out to us by phone or email to discuss a return with one of our staff.
VII. All returns must be authorised by Bintel and an RMA # will be provided prior to returning your goods. Any non-descript goods that arrive will be returned to sender.
VIII. We do not service or repair modified products (belt drive upgrades, HyperStars, etc.)
IX. Shipping can be covered by Bintel on returns processed under warranty. In the case of the fault needing to be tested in-house your shipping will be refunded to you upon confirming the fault, so please keep your receipts. If no fault is found, shipping is the responsibility of the sender.

Shipping Terms & Conditions

Most deliveries are made via Registered Australia Post or TNT, with email tracking updates sent to the email address associated with the order. You will be required to sign for the delivery to confirm proof of receipt. If you are not there when the delivery is made, you may incur further charges from Australia Post or TNT (not from Bintel) to pickup the parcel from the nearest post office or depot. Local couriers may be used for some orders, particularly within Sydney where the Fast Courier option is specified by a customer at checkout. Bintel reserves the right to alter the selected method of shipping should we deem another option more favourable.

Please be aware that Fast Courier is currently not available outside of the Sydney Metro area, and further, will not be used if the items purchased incur free freight. Should you require express post for your order, and are located outside of Sydney, please ring our staff in-store to confirm additional charges.

Standard postage charges are determined per order depending on the category your products fall into. This will be specified once a postcode is entered at checkout, but as an approximate guide, please reference the following:

Envelope : $5                  (eg: thin booklet or chart)
Very Small : $10            (eg: filters, adapters, most eyepieces)
Small : $15                        (eg: small binoculars, large eyepieces, books)
Medium : $20                  (eg: large binoculars, spotting scopes)
Large : $25                        (eg: small refractor telescope, tripods)
Very Large : $50            (eg: medium reflector or dobsonian telescope, equatorial mounts)
Extra Large : $75           (eg: big telescope + mount package)

Some regional areas of Australia will incur higher charges than specified above at checkout, however if the shipping calculation does not seem correct, please contact us via phone or email so that we can fix the problem and raise the order for you with the correct shipping amount.

In the event of a particularly remote delivery destination or other factor which causes shipping to be underquoted, we will first contact you to confirm payment of the difference, or subsequently cancel the order if this additional cost is prohibitive. Currently The Binocular and Telescope Shop only delivers domestically within Australia, and to New Zealand.

We regularly ship to New Zealand, with typical orders of an in-stock item being delivered within 5 days for metro areas, or 7 days for regional areas. Prices displayed at checkout will be tax free if you are accessing this website from overseas, however please note that orders totaling over $400 will incur tax charges payable to New Zealand customs.

Please additionally contact us via phone or email before making a purchase so that we can advise of any extra shipping charges. Small items under 1kg will generally retain a similar shipping price to that quoted in checkout, whereas large telescope packages could increase in price substantially.  Call (+612 9518 7255) for further information.

* Note: For promotional periods which offer free shipping to metro areas, the divisions are based off TNT calculated postcode rates alone. Bintel reserves the right to charge for shipping in the event a customer does in fact not live in a metro area.
